India Buying S500 - As previously reported by Financial Express Online, the long awaited S-400 has started arriving in India for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

As India prepares to deploy the first regiment of the S-400 air defense system, Russia has announced that it is ready to offer India a new version of the S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov has announced that India may be the first buyer of the S-500 air defense system, the press points out. India has started receiving the S-400 ``Triumf'' from the country, and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister has commented on US concerns about the system.

As previously reported by Financial Express Online, the long awaited S-400 has started arriving in India for the Indian Air Force (IAF). After that, a team of Russian experts will arrive in India next month (January 2022) to transfer the equipment to the site and help the Indian team trained in Moscow to start the operational process. The supply of various components of the system started in November this year.

A top official told Financial Express Online on condition of anonymity: "It is too early to discuss this as the first batch of S-400s is being delivered to India. The delivery will end in 2023. Only then will a decision be made. It will be taken."

This was celebrated in 2018 when Russian President Vladimir attended the annual India-Russia Summit.

The first installment of the S-400 air defense system made by India in 2019 is equal to 800 million dollars. In fact, by 2019, both countries have agreed to use the Indian rupee as the mode of payment. Speaking to the media at the time, an embassy official in New Delhi explained that India's leading bank would transfer payments to Russian state-owned Sberbank in rupees. The Bank of Russia branch will then transfer the money in rubles to the Head Office in Moscow.

Based on publicly available information, India's current air defense system has an operational range of 400 km, and the new version of the S-500 is capable of targeting ballistic missiles at a range of 600 km.

Social media claims that the S-500 has an advantage over the S-400 due to its ability to target hypersonic missiles. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is working on developing a hypersonic missile, which will be ready by 2024. The S-500 is capable of targeting American fighters such as the B-2, F-35 and F-22 stealth aircraft.

What India has received is the world's best S-400 air defense system. The system received by India is capable of striking fighter jets, drones, missiles and rockets. India has ordered five regiments – meaning each regiment has four missiles and a combined eight launchers – so the system can fire up to 32 missiles at once if needed.

According to reports, the Russian army is ready to replace the S-400, which has been in service since 2007, with the S-500 in 2024.

As previously reported by Financial Express Online, the system acquired by India will be located in the northern part of the country. Why? Because of this location, it can prevent airstrikes from Pakistan or China.

A second regiment of S-400s is expected to arrive in mid-summer 2022 and will be deployed to protect Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh, as well as the Mumbai-Baroda industrial corridor.

Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Borissov said that India may be at the top of the list if it expresses its desire to purchase this modern equipment.

Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Yuriy Borisov said on Monday that India could be the first to purchase Russia's S-500 air defense system after the Russian Armed Forces receive the required quantity.

It comes as Russia began supplying India with the S400 Triumf air-to-air missile system under a deal signed by the Narendra Modi government as the US continues to threaten sanctions over New Delhi's military action with Moscow.

"If India expresses its desire to buy this modern equipment, it may be the first on the list," Borisov said in an interview with RBC television. Russia's Deputy Prime Minister stated that Moscow will export the S-500 only after supplying the necessary quantities to the Russian forces.

Last month, the United States said it had not decided to waive CAATSA sanctions on India's purchase of the S400 anti-missile defense system, adding that Washington would continue negotiations with New Delhi on the arms deal with Russia.

Regarding the easing of sanctions against India, State Department spokesman Ned Price said, "We urge all our allies and partners to avoid transactions with Russia that could be subject to sanctions under CAATSA (the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act)."

Earlier this month, Russian President Vladimir Putin held the 21st India-Russia Summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The leaders of the two countries expressed satisfaction at the continued progress in their "Special and Special Strategic Partnership" despite the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic.

He also expressed his happiness at the first meeting of the 222nd Foreign and Defense Ministerial Dialogue and the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Armed Forces and Military-Technical Cooperation held in New Delhi on December 6.

In a joint statement, the parties expressed their commitment to advance cooperation in the field of defense, including the development and production of military equipment, components and spare parts, improvement of the after-sales service system, acceptance of quality control, and regular joint training. from the Armed Forces of both countries.

Although Russia and China are not officially allies, the two countries are still partners in terms of military equipment. Although China has built up its domestic arms industry, Beijing still looks to Moscow for aircraft engines and air defense systems.

The partnership is expected to continue. China and several former Soviet states may be among the first buyers of the S-500 anti-aircraft missile system.

The mobile surface-to-air/ballistic missile system was developed by the Almaz-Antey Air Defense Concern to replace the aging A-135 missile system currently in use. The S-500 is considered a step up from the S-400 Triumf, but it will augment rather than replace the platform. It has a range of about six hundred kilometers and is believed to be capable of targeting hypersonic cruise missiles and stealth aircraft. According to experts, the S-500 can also target satellites in low Earth orbit.

China is understandably interested in the platform as it continues to strengthen its position in the South China Sea. Complicating matters a little more is the fact that India may be the first potential buyer of the S-500 Triumph-M. But potential adversaries China and India have expressed interest, which is not a serious reason for Russia's concern at the moment.

"We consider India, as well as China and all the countries and partners with whom we have long-standing relations, predictable buyers of this latest system," said Dmitry Shugaev, head of the Russian Federation for Military-Technical Cooperation. The state-owned TASS news agency reported an interview with RBC media on Friday.

India Air Carrier - Navy chief Admiral Karambir Singh last year said a third aircraft carrier was "absolutely necessary" for India to further expand its naval capabilities.

The Indian Navy is confident of a positive response from the government to its request for a third aircraft carrier, and the warship will be designed to accommodate fighter jets and unmanned aerial vehicles, people familiar with the development said on Tuesday. Currently, India has only one aircraft carrier - INS Vikramaditya which is a Russian based platform. The indigenously built aircraft carrier (IAC) INS Vikrant is expected to be fully operational by 2022.

Discussions are underway on various aspects of the third aircraft carrier, and its overall displacement could be reduced from the proposed 65,000 tons to reduce the cost and time of its construction, the people cited above said.

"We are looking at various aspects of the project. It will be designed to accommodate fighter jets and unmanned aerial vehicles," a source said.

In a press conference, Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh said last year that a third aircraft carrier was "absolutely necessary" for India to further expand its naval capabilities.

A third aircraft carrier project is slated to be included in the Indian Navy's modified 15-year Maritime Capability Perspective Plan (MCPP), the people cited above said.

The Navy is modifying the MCPP to accommodate time overruns on some projects and align with the Department of Military Affairs' 10-year Integrated Capability Development Plan (ICDP) to provide a three-service approach to the meeting. Future security challenges.

When asked about the third aircraft carrier, Vice Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Satish Namdev Ghormade said the need for a third aircraft carrier will be considered when the plan is made.

"All these, the (third) aircraft carrier, submarines and maritime patrol aircraft have a specific role. To make a balanced force, the country's capability needs all these," he told reporters at an event.

In August, she completed a five-day maiden voyage and the performance of her major systems was found to be satisfactory.

Originally built as Baku and launched in 1987, the carrier served with the Soviet Navy and later with the Russian Navy (as Admiral Gorshkov) before being decommissioned in 1996.

Technological Perspectives On A Third Aircraft Carrier For India

The carrier was invested by India on 20 January 2004 with a final arms sale price of $2.35 billion after years of negotiations.

On 14 June 2014, Prime Minister of India Naradra Damodar Modi officially commissioned INS Vikramaditya into the Indian Navy and dedicated her to the nation.

The Baku entered service in 1987, was scuttled by Admiral Gorshkov in 1991, but was decommissioned in 1996 because she was too large to operate on a post-Cold War budget. This caught the attention of India, which was looking for a way to expand its carrier aviation capabilities.

On January 20, 2004, after years of negotiations, Russia and India signed a contract for the sale of the ship. The ship will be free, but India will pay $800 million to renovate and repair the ship and an additional $1 billion for aircraft and weapons systems. The Navy sought to outfit the carrier with the E-2C Hawkeye, but decided against it.

The deal involved the purchase of 12 Mikoyan MiG-29K 'Fulcrum-D' (Product 9.41) single-seat and four two-seat MiG-29KUB aircraft (with an option for a further 14 aircraft) for US$1 billion, six Kamov Ka. -31 reconnaissance and anti-submarine "Helix" helicopters, torpedo tubes, missile systems and artillery units. Facilities and procedures for training pilots and technical personnel, delivery of simulators, spare parts and maintenance deployment at Indian Navy facilities were also part of the agreement.

The upgrade involved removing all weapons and rocket launch tubes from the front of the ship to make way for a "short lift-off but arrested recovery" (STOBAR) configuration.

The announced delivery date of INS Vikramaditya was August 2008, allowing the carrier to enter service just as the Indian Navy's only light carrier, INS Virat, was retired. Virat's retirement was postponed to 2010–2012.

Delay issues were compounded by ongoing cost overruns, which led to high-profile diplomatic exchanges. India eventually agreed to pay an additional $1.2 billion for the project, doubling the initial cost.

However, ongoing issues with Vikramaditya's launch schedule pushed the expected launch to 2013. Also, the indigenous Vikrant-class aircraft carrier was delayed by at least a year and was expected to be commissioned in 2012-2013 as proposed.

In July 2008, it was reported that Russia would have to raise the price by about $2 billion, citing unexpected cost overruns for the ship's deteriorating condition and a "market price" for a new mid-sized carrier of 3-4 billion US dollars. bn

India paid $400 million by November 2008. However, Russia threatened to cancel the deal if India did not pay the increased amount.

In December 2008, government sources in India said that the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) had finally decided in favor of acquiring the Admiral Gorshkov as the best option available.

India's Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) criticized the Vikramaditya as a second-hand warship with a limited lifespan, which would cost 60% more than a new one. Also, there was a risk of further delay in its delivery.

Indian Navy Chief Admiral Suresh Mehta denied the cost of the warship, saying, "I can't comment on the CAG. But all you defense analysts, can you get me an aircraft carrier for less than $2? Billion? If you can, I'll sign the check now."

A Navy chief's statement at the time suggested the final deal could be worth more than $2 billion. Asked about the CAG's finding that the Navy had not done its risk analysis before boarding the ship, he said, "I assure you there is no such thing. There is no doubt, we are looking. The ship that from the late 90s."

On 2 July 2009, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that the repair of the carrier should be completed as soon as possible so that it can be delivered to India in 2012.

On December 7, 2009, Russian sources indicated that final terms had been agreed, but no handover date had been set.

On 8 December 2009, India and Russia reportedly resolved the impasse over the Admiral Gorshkov prize agreement by agreeing to a price of $2.2 billion. Moscow demanded $2.9 billion for the aircraft carrier, nearly three times what was originally agreed between the two sides in 2004. New Delhi, on the other hand, wanted to bring the price down to $2.1 billion.

Both governments finalized Admiral Gorshkov's price on March 10 at $2.35 billion, a day before Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's two-day visit to India.

In April 2010, a scandal over the project emerged when it was announced that an Indian Navy officer had been blackmailed to influence negotiations over the cost of Admiral Gorshkov in India.

About 99% of the structural work and about 50% of the cable work has been completed by June 2010. Almost all major equipment, including generators and diesel generators, have been installed.

All remodeling work was completed in Severodvinsk, Russia. However, it was delayed by three years due to an underestimation of the amount of cables required.

Expert level discussions on technical and economic issues were held between India and Russia to resolve the issues.

In February 2010 the MiG-29K entered operational service with India. A compromise was finalized and India had to pay an additional undisclosed amount. Russia should have created a new system instead of fixing the old one.

On 1 June 2010, The Times of India quoted a naval official as saying: "Earlier this year India agreed to a revised restoration cost of $2.33 billion for the Gorshkov, after three years of bitter wrangling, following an earlier agreement in January 2004 allocated only 974 million dollars. This false belief is based on the idea that it costs a lot of money to get Six Sigma training and certification, where unless one is rich from the start, there is no way one can afford to pay for the training. .

This actually couldn't be further from the truth. Especially in the case of , we can state with complete confidence that the rates involved in our case are among the lowest to be found, not only in Dayton, but in the entire United States. Under these circumstances, not getting a useful training program like six sigma certification in Dayton would not be a crime. For example, there is a false elitist opinion about six sigma training and certification in that some people believe it is meant for the public/high-level people in highly focused, high-level positions in companies. Therefore, there is not an iota of truth in the belief that when it comes to Six Sigma training and certification, it is meant for senior executives, not for others. After all, if that were the case, we wouldn't see people from different backgrounds coming together to seek six sigma training and certification. Already if you look around, there are many people in Dayton who, after receiving six sigma training and certifications, have gone on to find positions at the corporate level that previously would have seemed out of their reach. The Russian Empire, a historical empire, was established on November 2 (October 22, old style) 1721, when the Russian Senate conferred the title of Tsarvarti (Emperor) of All Russia on Peter I. Abdication of Nicholas II on March 15, 1917. The empire and its ruling marked the end of the Romanov dynasty.

Indeed In Russian

Indeed In Russian

The empire had its origins when Russian nobles were looking for a new bloodline for their monarchy. He found it in Michael Romanov, a young boyar (noble) elected Tsar in 1613. The early Romanovs were weak monarchs. Crowned at the age of 17, Michael shared the throne with his father, the patriarch Philaret, during the critical years of his reign. Michael's son Alexis ascended the throne in 1645 at the age of 16; He was influenced first by Boris Ivanovich Morozov and then by Patriarch Nikon. Fyodor III, who was only 14 at the time of his accession in 1676, gave too much power to favorites. Despite this, all three were popular tsars, who left a good reputation among the people, and 19th-century Slavophiles idealized them as models of Russian kings. Government during this period was usually in the hands of persons who for one reason or another exercised personal influence over the kings. Popular discontent in urban uprisings (1648–50) that led to Morozov's exile and the great Peasant Revolt (1670–71) led by the Cossack Stenka Razin often turned against these favorites rather than against the Tsar.

Google Reveals Surge In Questionable Removal Requests From Russian Government * Torrentfreak

In theory, the Russian monarchy was unlimited, and in fact there were no legal or economic guarantees against the arbitrary power of the Tsar. However, in practice, the degree of control over the empire that they could exercise was effectively limited by the size of the country, the inadequacy of administration, and a generally unmodern conception of politics. As a result, the majority of residents rarely felt the heavy hand of the state, which limited its own powers to law enforcement and tax collection. Some of the Tsar's subjects, such as the Siberians and Cossacks, lived in completely autonomous communities, only nominally under the Tsar's rule. Earlier this year, Russia's invasion of Ukraine was met with a swift response from allies. Central bank assets were frozen, strict sanctions were imposed on Russian financial companies, and a wave of large-scale sanctions hit Russian imports and exports. Inflation immediately rose due to shortages of essential consumer goods and the country found it difficult to conduct basic international financial transactions. The almost unprecedented strength of sanctions against such a large country has led organizations such as the IMF to expect a huge drop in Russia's GDP. Meanwhile, the fighting in Ukraine first began to stall and then reverse Russia's progress, putting Vladimir Putin in an even worse position. Russia is poised to cut off large swaths of Europe from crucial natural gas supplies, leaving few economic options, permanently damaging one of its most valuable trade ties and cashing in on its biggest economic chip.

All things considered, the Russian economy is certainly better than expected. After forecasting an 8.5% drop in GDP this year, the IMF now expects the Russian economy to shrink by just 3.4%. Russia's central bank has cut interest rates amid a relatively bright inflation outlook and Russian imports of manufactured goods have been pushed back by increased trade with China and Turkey.

Still, the forecasts were so dire that the better-than-expected results put Russia on the brink of a massive recession and significant economic problems. Capital flight is rampant, inflation is over 12.5% a year, consumer confidence is dire, credit conditions are tight, complex manufacturing industries are struggling, the nation's oil and gas revenues could be cut, and millions of young people are now slated for layoffs. was drafted into the armed forces. The sanctions have still worked to inflict severe pain on the Russian economy, although it remains to be seen how flexible Russia will be going forward.

The initial wave of sanctions had to work around the fact that Western European economies depended heavily on Russian natural gas for essential, unstable energy supplies. The aim was to neutralize the value of dollars and euros spent on Russian gas by targeting Russian financial institutions and exploiting global financial centers based in London and New York. That part of the program worked as intended. Russian companies have reported a sharp deterioration in credit conditions since the sanctions took effect earlier this year, and despite efforts by Russia's central bank, conditions have barely improved.

Russia In Africa: What's New?

A second result of this effort involves cutting off Russian consumers and businesses from essential manufactured goods. Although Russia has considerable leverage through energy supplies, the country is dependent on imports of many consumer goods and requires semiconductors, machinery, and other sophisticated manufactured goods to wage an effective war. Sanctions can therefore have a major impact on Russian industry, consumption and military capabilities through targeted trade restrictions. We saw exactly that in Russia's business sector, as manufacturing industries with significant external economic activity were hit hardest by the initial sanctions and then struggled to recover.

In fact, the production of major complex products in Russia has completely decreased. The production of automobiles fell by more than 50% and the production of household appliances by more than 40%. Manufacturing output of other key goods such as computers and electronic equipment fell 14% from 2019 levels. Industrial disruption in complex industries was key to damaging the Russian military machine and bought time for Ukrainian forces to build strong defenses, and it seems to have worked as intended.

However, this had the additional effect of cutting off Russian businesses and consumers from basic manufactured goods. Prices of new domestic and foreign passenger cars in Russia have risen 25% and 43% respectively since sanctions were imposed earlier this year, and Russian auto manufacturing is still struggling to return production to 2021. In fact, since the beginning of this year, the prices of all kinds of essentials have skyrocketed: bath soap 44%, toothpaste 40%, diapers 22%, menstrual products 44%, smartphones more expensive. . 6%, and several over-the-counter drugs also saw massive price hikes.

Indeed In Russian

The decline of Russian production is not limited to complex industrial branches. Over the past year, actual oil and natural gas production has also fallen, along with the industry. Compared to last October, steel and iron production was down by 12.3%, fertilizer production was down by 9.4%, metal ore production was down by 7% and coal production was down by 3.3%.

Instagram Nyet! Russian Influencers Lose Mojo On Homegrown Platforms

This is one reason Russia's energy revenues have fallen significantly from their peak, despite rising natural gas and oil prices throughout the year. The easing of sanctions has forced Russia to sell its crude at a discount to buyers in India, China and elsewhere, and it has sharply cut the amount of natural gas it sends to Europe. A new $60 per barrel cap on Russian oil imported into Europe could further disrupt Russian energy revenues, but the drop in global oil prices is more important than the specifics of the cap. More than just energy income.

War in the modern age does not usually produce a positive return on investment. Russia's 2014 invasion of Ukraine, which largely bloodlessly annexed Crimea, was (perhaps) one of the only exceptions in the 21st century, as the country was able to seize large swathes of territory and exchange it for important warm-water ports. brutality But relatively weather restrictions. This invasion of Ukraine appears to be within the rules. Thanks to the stubborn defense of Ukrainian forces and a strong economic response from the League of Nations, Vladimir Putin is paying a heavy economic price for his invasion of Ukraine.

Still, Ukraine undoubtedly bears the brunt of the economic damage caused by the war. Ukraine's State Statistics Service, which publishes key data even as the conflict rages on, estimates that the country's GDP shrank by about 40% from last year when you factor in population and territory losses. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees estimates that 7.8 million Ukrainians, about 18% of the pre-war population, have been forced to flee the country since the beginning of the Russian occupation. Tens of thousands of people have probably already died in the fighting, and millions around the world are still suffering from the economic and geopolitical consequences of the invasion. It is an important reminder of the tragic human cost of war and why economic sanctions today should be used as an effective deterrent to tomorrow's aggressors.

Note: Why should you trust Russian data? The answer is you shouldn't, at least not completely. The country is encouraged to cook or spin the numbers

I have my 42 for light summer wear. I had an LCP before and really didn't like shooting at the range.....it wasn't comfortable to shoot and I couldn't hit squats with it. My 42 is much more comfortable and my accuracy has greatly improved.

Hpclayto said: Saying something is best is never true because different people have different needs. Click to expand... Right. I guess I'm just being very subjective based on my personal feelings. I will rephrase my statement and just say that the Glock 42 is second to none when it comes to .380 for concealed carry.

I would say the 42 is my best .380. Enjoy the photo shoot and I got it for wearing light clothes in shorts etc. Never had any problems with it.

I'll throw this into the mix for those of you who may have recorded your first GSSF match before 1995.

Best Glock Triggers [hands On Tested]

After surgery or injury, there may be times in your life that require healing. At this point the minimal recoil/weight of the Glock 42 becomes a blessing. Maybe it's not how fancy a gun you own, but what your body allows you to carry and shoot well. It is at this delicate point that 42 September.

I jump into the bunker and put on my fireproof gear... but first I'll say, each to his own. 42 is a very good gun. But compare 42 to 365. 365 is a bit taller, 42 is a bit longer. The 365 is very slightly wider. The 365 weighs 4oz more than the 42 but is 9mm and the minimum mag is 10 vs 6. I have both and am in a pinch to carry the 42 and I am not young. Even though I have a bit of arthritis in my shooting hand, I often shoot nines and see if the 43 or 365 is comfortable for me to shoot all day. And the stand, although I know some have problems with stronger springs. Maybe the 42 is over the 365/43 for pocket carry because of the extra 4 ounces on the 365, but there are plenty of 26, 27, 33 pockets out there and they weigh about 10 ounces more.

I love my G42 but the P365-380 shoots flatter, very accurate, easier to hold and holds more ammo. It's my wife's outfit and she likes it.

I rarely carry the 42, but I carry it in my jacket pocket or jeans in my Alabama holster. I mainly carry IWB G26 or P365X. I occasionally sprinkle in the other two weapons.

Anyone Carry A Glock With An Aftermarket Slide?

People's needs and preferences differ. By most accounts the G42 is fun to shoot in .380, but to me it is too big for its caliber and capacity. If I wanted to try wearing a G42 or something similar in size, I'd take one of the small 9s. Just my personal preference; not saying you or anyone else should.

I prefer to carry it in my pocket and the G42 is too big for that in all my women's pants and jeans pockets. I am a small woman. The only reason I want a .380 is because they are available in small, true pocket pistols.

A small device that can turn a handgun into a mini-machine gun has appeared in Connecticut, according to police reports.

The device, colloquially referred to as a Glock "switch" or "chip," can be quickly attached to a gun, turning the weapon into one capable of firing until the trigger is pulled, firing only one bullet each time the trigger is pulled.

Police in Connecticut have found a handful of devices in recent years, though it's unclear how many are in the state, according to police reports. Advocates say they pose a danger to the public because they increase the risk of people being shot, and apparently allow criminals to catch them.

Alleged Dallas Glock Switch Dealer Charged

"It's a combination of bad things," said former state lawmaker Mike Lawler, who authored the state's "red flag" law that allows police to confiscate someone's gun if they pose a danger to themselves or others. "These things are very easy to get and they are very cheap."

The penny-sized device is technically called an auto-seer. Legally, the device is considered a machine gun under federal law. Fully automatic firearms are strictly regulated under the law and don't typically appear in violent crimes, but the cheap gadgets have made it easier for criminals across the country to turn handguns into machine guns. Now the weapon is showing up in deadly incidents across the country — including an ambush-style shootout with police in Houston last year that left one officer dead and another injured.

Lawler, who also serves on the New Haven Board of Police Commissioners, said the city's police department has encountered about a dozen automated searches this year. He pointed out that the device is completely illegal to buy or own, but can be found online for $20 to $25.

"It's a very difficult situation and sooner or later there will be a tragedy here, and there are tragedies elsewhere with this." Lawler added.

Last September, a suspect wanted on drug charges opened fire on police in Texas, killing Houston police officer William "Bill" Jeffrey in a shootout and wounding a second officer. According to officials, the suspect was also shot dead. Police body camera footage shows the sound of automatic gunfire as police try to get suspect Dion Ledet to surrender.

"I think it's ... the majority of law enforcement officers don't recognize this if they find one," Lawler said. "It's just a few pieces."

Other firearms can be modified to fire fully automatically, Lawler said. But Glock is a popular handgun brand in the United States, and many are carried by law enforcement.

Federal law enforcement investigations in several cases have identified automated teller machines shipped to the United States from manufacturers in China. In other cases, the device is made at home using a 3D printer.

Glock Switches' Are Turning Pistols Into Deadly Machine Guns

Lawler suggested that the first step could be a public education campaign to help law enforcement and the public identify the devices. When police identify who they are and make an arrest, the federal government usually gets involved in the case, Lawler said.

For decades, the rarity and high cost of machine guns prevented them from appearing in violent crimes.

In 1934, the same year authorities shot and killed Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in Louisiana, Congress passed the National Firearms Act, a law that required machine guns and other types of firearms to be registered with the federal government. The act also followed the St. John's Day Massacre. Valentine in 1929, when seven gangsters were beaten by rival gangs in Chicago. The killer was armed with a machine gun. The Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986 further tightened access to machine guns, prohibiting public ownership or sale of unowned weapons.

Glock Switches

"I've heard law enforcement officials in other parts of the country call this ... 'the scariest thing to hit the streets in a long time,'" said Jeremy Stein, executive director of Connecticut Against Gun Violence. Groups that support stronger gun laws.

Facing Charges In Multi Agency Gun Switches Investigation In Western Michigan

Stein said the device works by essentially "bypassing" the trigger mechanism of a firearm, similar to a bump stock designed to simulate the fully automatic rate of fire of a semi-automatic weapon.

"There is no legitimate public purpose - there is no good reason to have one of these things," he added.

"The other problem is, by and large, the people who do this don't know what they're doing and it's very difficult to target them," Lawler said. "So if you're the new guy shooting this thing, the bullets are going to go everywhere."

In August, state and local police said they found a modified .40-caliber Glock rifle with switches between other illegal weapons and a stash of drugs. A Waterbury man has been charged with three counts under the state's assault weapons ban — among other offenses after two more firearms, both military-style rifles, were found during a search, police said.

In February, Waterbury police also arrested a local man they say was found to be in possession of a .40-caliber Glock pistol stolen from Georgia.

"This particular firearm has a 'switch' mechanism installed that allows the user to switch between semi-automatic and fully automatic fire," Waterbury police said in a news release at the time.

Waterbury police said the modification made the gun an "assault-type weapon" under state law, and the defendants in the case were charged under the law.

Because the device is classified as a machine gun under federal law, people caught with it could also face federal charges.

I Team: Mpd Switches To New Guns Due To Concerns; How Do They Compare?

In Massachusetts, federal law enforcement arrested a man in early August who said he had 38 "switch-type" Glock conversion devices among a large cache of weapons.

Earlier this year, a federal judge sentenced a New Haven man to 120 days in prison and three years of supervised release for selling two "Glock conversion devices" to a man who messaged him on social media, according to court filings.

The man, Angel Reyes-Rodriguez, pleaded guilty in a US court in 2021 to illegal possession and transfer of a machine gun, the US Attorney's Office said.

On May 3, 2019, Reyes-Rodriguez contacted an individual regarding a Glock firearm that he had posted a photo of online. During the conversation, Reyes-Rodriguez said he had a friend with a "chip" that could fire a gun automatically, court filings show. The dispatcher who contacted Reyes-Rodriguez is cooperating with law enforcement. Reyes-Rodriguez sold witnesses two "transformation devices" for $500, records show.

The narrative of events contained in Reyes-Rodriguez's sentencing document, which he did not dispute, said witnesses turned the device over to law enforcement. The accessory is labeled "Made in Austria" and has the Glock logo.

"In fact, Glock does not and does not manufacture these conversion machine gun accessories," the court filing states.

Federal prosecutors asked the court to impose a longer sentence than Reyes-Rodriguez received, arguing that each device "could transform a Glock firearm into an automatic weapon capable of causing great bodily harm."

"In the wrong hands, the machine gun conversion device could cause serious harm to the community within minutes for bad actors," the government wrote in its sentencing memorandum. SHREVEPORT, La. () - Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) New Orleans Field Division were in Shreveport on Tuesday to demonstrate a simple device that turns conventional semi-automatic Glock pistols into fully automatic weapons.

Shreveport police officials say they see the device frequently used in shootings around the city. The ATF says the Glock switch is an illegal device classified as a machine gun under federal law.

Glock is one of the most popular handguns in the United States. Now, people use 3D printers to surf the dark web, or sometimes, search sites like Etsy, to buy a small quarter-sized plate called a Glock switch that can turn a Glock into a fully functional but illegal machine. the gun
